Invested in helping the next generation of collegiate gamers Get Their Money Right and get after their goals, all-in-one personal finance app SoFi is proud to present the SoFi Meta Melee Series — a series of League of Legends and Team Fight Tactics tournaments that kick off on 11/20.

SoFi is putting up $50,000 in prizes for any student currently enrolled in a four-year college or university across the USA, ranging from helping to pay tuition or student loan debt, money to invest in SoFi Active Invest accounts, and exclusive Code Giveaways for awesome in-game content like skins, boxes, capsules and riot points!

Anyone 18 years of age or older will be able to participate in the tournament. ONLY students that are currently enrolled in a 4 year university are eligible for recieving prize pot winnings, raffles and code giveaways.

Individual sign ups will be accepted. NSG will form teams of 5 and will connect players via email and discord. NSG prefers you sign up knowing the other 4 players you will be playing with i.e (pre-made) teams of 5.

Teams will be able to subsitute players as long as they go through the registration process and meet the requirements.

Please make sure all members of a team puts the correct team name upon signing up. If you're signing up individually please make sure to put "Individual Sign Up" in the team name field instead.

Proof of active enrollment will be required for participants eligibility for prize pots and raffles.

Prize Pot: $1,250. 
ONLY students that are currently enrolled in a 4 year university are eligible for recieving prize pot winnings

Prize Split: 1st Place ($250 per. player) 
The five (5) Participants who receive winnings for this tournament will need to provide the following information. 

Participants must be [1] a legal resident of and physically located within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia; [2] eighteen (18) years of age or older and [3] currently enrolled in a four (4) year university located within the 50 United States or DC.  Each Winner will be contacted by email using information provided during Registration (“Winner Notification Email”) and asked to provide verification documents.  

If an email notification is returned as undeliverable, or if a Winner fails to submit his or her complete Winner Verification Documents within the time allocated, or if any Winner cannot accept prize for any reason, or if he or she is not in compliance with these Official Rules, including but not limited to being unable to provide proof of being a student per the eligibility requirements of these Official Rules, corresponding Winner will be disqualified, and the prize may be awarded to an alternate Winner at NSG’s sole discretion.  

Prizes will be awarded to Winners in the form of a SoFi Invest credit. The Winner Notification Email shall specify next steps for the Winner to claim the prize. Each prize will be awarded directly to the Winner. No substitutions, transfers or assignments of prize permitted. Each Winner will be responsible for all federal, state, local, income or any other taxes associated with winning the prize and an IRS Form 1099 will be filed in the name of each Winner for the value of the prize won. Prizes will be awarded within sixty (60) days of each Winner verification.  

Winners must either have an active SoFi Invest Account or create one, which they can do for free by visiting www.sofi.com/invest. Once the Investment Credit has been deposited into a Winner’s SoFi Investment Account, the Winner may elect to convert their credit into shares or other securities, afterward the value of the account will be subject to market risk and may lose value. Format: The official format for this Summoners Rift tournament will be a Single Elimination bracket (Best of One)

Do I need to have student debt to participate in the “Cost of School” tournaments? 
Nope! If you don’t have any loan student debt, you can use any prize money you may win to help pay your tuition. If you do have student loan debt, you can use any prize money you may win to pay down your student loans. There’s no purchase necessary to enter or win. Thanks you registering for the $1,250 SoFi Meta Melee Summoners Rift tournament on December 4th

The tournament kicks off at 7:00 PM EST with a Captains Meeting in the NSG Discord at 6:00 PM EST. 

All team captains are required to join the Discord and the Captain Meeting. 

Join Codes for the tournament on Battlefy will be sent manually every couple of hours the week of the tournament. 

If you haven't received your code within 24 hours of you registering your team, create a #mod-mail ticket in the Discord or email NSG at tos@nerdstgamers.com and an admin will help you.


This ticket will enter a individual into the SoFi Meta Melee Summoners Rift tournament on December 4th.

This prize is for all college students who want to start their investment journey. Please note winners must open up a free SoFi Active Invest Account to receive their prize as it will be credited to the individual’s free SoFi Active Invest account. Please note, once prizes have been converted into shares or other securities, and credited to your free SoFi Active Invest Account, they are subject to market risk and may lose value. All participants are required to fill out the registration fields. Some fields will be optional and not required.

This tournament will be run on the bracketing site Battlefy. You will need to create a account on Battlefy  We will be sending a full list of codes out to team Captain emails as team register. Each team captain will be able to use the code given to them to register on Battlefy. Captains will then have to send the battlefy links to their teammates so they can join the Battlefy roster. When these steps are complete the Captain will then be able to complete registration on Battlefy.

The bracket will be updated in real-time after each game.

Team captains are required to join Discord. Each captain will receive a "SoFi LoL" role which gives them access to see the SoFi Meta Melee tournament channels.

Team captains must be present 1 hour before the first scheduled match time in Discord for the captains meeting on December 4th.
All team captains must be present via Nerd Street Gamers Discord throughout the tournament.

Discord roles and Battlefy join codes are updated daily. If you do not receive your role within 24 hours of you registering, contact an admin in the NSG Discord using the #mod-mail system or email tos@nerdstgamers.com

Any hostile actions, including those physical and/or verbal, during the event is grounds for disqualification and removal of a player or team. There will also be a policy of zero-tolerance when it comes to harassment, whether it be physical and/or verbal. Harassment is grounds for disqualification from the tournament, and extends to both the guilty player and their teammates. Instances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and will be handled by tournament officials. 

In the desire to keep broadcasts respectful, players or teams may be required to change their in-game name if it is found offensive or inappropriate. 

It is critical that all scheduled matches are started promptly in order for the event to complete on time. Teams must be present 30 minutes before their scheduled match time. Teams that fail to start their match within 15 minutes of their scheduled match time will forfeit the game and possibly series. 

Teams may pause in the event of technical issues, player disconnects, etc. Abuse of the pause system may result in round, game, or series forfeiture at the discretion of tournament officials.

After each match is complete, team captains are responsible for providing a screenshot of their match summary on Battlefy and submitting their own scores in Battlefy on that same match dashboard.

After each match is complete, teams will be assigned a match automatically from the Battlefy platform. If no match is assigned your team will be waiting for your opponent to finish their respected matches.
