The Holiday Esports Drive
by Olivia Schaller--Updated
Every year, tens of thousands of children wait to be adopted. Children’s homes and foster care facilities across the country work selflessly and tireless to provide these vulnerable kids with education, safety, and a sense of community–often with very few resources. The feeling of community that many of us enjoy through gaming and esports is something that is easy to take for granted.
We think we can help.
So, we decided to bring together some of the most influential players in the esports industry, including Esports Arena, Esports Stadium, NYXL Shop & LAN, ULT Studios, Novastar Gaming, Game Gym, and Balance Patch.
This holiday season, bring your working console, PC, or peripherals to either Localhost Philly or Localhost Arena in Denver for The Holiday Esports Drive, and we’ll donate it with the help of The Charity Nerds.
The Charity Nerds specialize in taking used gaming equipment and getting it into the hands of children in need. They work with a range of centers and facilities: foster care, hospitals, Ronald McDonald Houses, military families, and at-risk youth centers. We’re thrilled they’re helping us with our drive this year.
Here’s how it works:
- You bring your gently used game console, PC, or working peripherals to Localhost in Philadelphia or Localhost Arena in Denver.
- We plug it in and test it to make sure it works.
- We ship it to The Charity Nerds, and they find it a home.
- You feel good for making a difference.
When you do drop your console or PC at Localhost in Philly or Localhost Arena in Denver, be sure to snap a pic and drop it on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Give us a mention and use the hashtag #esportsgives, and we’ll help spread the word.
Contact your closest LAN partner for donation and drop off details.
