The National Championship Series Welcomes Underwatch

by Olivia Schaller--Updated

Boston-based Underwatch will run tournaments and boot camps at the Academy and Minor tier of the NCS starting this weekend.

New Year, New Series, Familiar Partnership

We’ve worked with Underwatch before, so we’re very excited that they’ll be running tournaments and boot camps as part of the National Championship Series. We created the NCS to provide as many players possible with the chance to compete in high-quality tournaments, and the fine folks at Underwatch are helping us make that mission a reality.

As many of you know, the National Championship Series is comprised of three tier levels: Academy, Minor, Major, and a Grand Final. This Sunday (January 20th) in Boston, UWatch is organizing a CS:GO boot camp as part of the Academy tier.

Better Events for the Community

Arthur “deadsh0t” Heil, founder of Underwatch, believes that being part of the National Championship Series will take their events to new heights, and we agree.

“We’ve always focused on providing players the platform they deserve, and our events provide invaluable LAN experience, exposure, and excitement for any enthusiastic player,” comments Heil. “This is key for any player’s growth in the professional circuit.”

Heil continues, “The players will reap the benefits of being able to compete not just at a local level, but now at the national level.”

We first partnered with UWatch back in September of 2018. At that time, we supported them for a $1,500 CS:GO tournament that was held at Balance Patch, in Boston, MA. In November of that same year, we partnered again–this time, increasing the prize pool to $4,350.

“Arthur has been producing events with NSG in Boston for the better part of the last year and has developed a strong and loyal community following,” remarks John Fazio, founder and CEO of N3rd Street Gamers. “Having Underwatch join the NCS was a natural fit, and we are excited to continue empowering the Boston area with high-quality competitive opportunities.”
