24 Hour Charity Gaming Event Pits Gamers Vs Cancer

Event Proceeds to benefit American Cancer Society

What if we told you that you can help fight cancer by playing video games?

It’s true. You can.

SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 – On October 5, N3rd Street Gamers will team up with the American Cancer Society to host Gamers vs. Cancer Philadelphia, a 24-hour gaming event at our Localhost in Philadelphia (908 N. 3rd Street).

With a goal of raising $50,000, Gamers vs. Cancer Philadelphia will allow the American Cancer Society to attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies and innovative research, to building supportive communities that come together to help those affected by cancer with access to treatment. The American Cancer Society empowers activists to raise awareness and develop game-changing approaches to address the cancer burden for all people.

“This is a unique event that will give the community the chance to make a positive impact on the world around us,” said John Fazio, CEO of N3rd Street Gamers. “By partnering with the American Cancer Society, we are bringing the Philadelphia gaming scene together to collectively raise money in the quest against cancer.”

At the 24-hour event, gamers will compete in tournaments, meet their favorite streamers and influencers, and play their favorite titles, including FIFA, Fortnite, NBA2K, and Smash on pro-level equipment. Vendors and food trucks will be on hand to serve the hungry.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to bring the gaming community together to take on our toughest opponent: cancer,” said Paula Green, Executive Director of American Cancer Society in Greater Philadelphia.
