Nerd Street Gamers and Philadelphia Fusion Team Up For First Ever “Protect The King” Tournament

Tournament gives Fusion fans and amateur Overwatch players the rare opportunity to compete on the same team as their favorite pros
August 3, 2020 – The Protect the King tournament, powered by Nerd Street Gamers, will be the first of its kind for the Fusion and will allow fans to compete side by side with some of their favorite players to earn glory in front of thousands of viewers.
The tournament will consist of four teams of three. Two players on each team will be Fusion professionals and one player will be a lucky fan, aka the “King.”
The teams will go head to head in a tournament style format in games where each team is trying to get the most eliminations on the opposing team’s “King.”
The tournament will be hosted on the Philadelphia Fusion’s official Twitch Channel on Thursday, August 20th. Make sure to subscribe to the Fusion on Twitch and set your notifications to be informed when the tournament goes live.
The Fusion teams will consist of the following pairs along with one fan from the Qualifiers.
- Carpe & ChipSa
- Sado & Poko
- Fury & EQO
- Alarm & FunnyAstro

Nerd Street Gamers – Protect the King Qualifier:
If you think you have what it takes to play with the Fusion make sure to join the Nerd Street Gamers Protect the King Qualifier that is taking place on Friday, August 14th @6pm EST to compete for your spot.
The qualifier will be broadcasted on the the official Nerd Street Gamers Twitch channel and will consist of free for all brackets that players will compete in.
Make sure to subscribe to Nerd Street Gamers on Twitch and turn on notifications to be informed when they go live!
Below you will find the format of the Qualifier:
- Free for all matches – 7 minute rounds – Best Score wins rounds, KD will be the tie breaker in the event of a tie.
- First round is 10 groupings of 12 players and top 3 form each grouping advances
- Second round is 3 groupings of 10 players and top 4 for from each advances
- Last round is the final 12 players and top 4 win (This is a 15 minute round)
