Companies’ continued engagement aims to build community and opportunities for League of Legends players
PHILADELPHIA, March 16, 2021 – Nerd Street Gamers, the national esports infrastructure company, announced today it has partnered with Riot Games to operate and produce the last chance qualifier tournament within the amateur League Championship Series (LCS) ecosystem. The tournament, called the Nerd Street Power Play, will take place March 22 through March 25, and is the final opportunity for teams to earn a spot into the LCS Proving Grounds, the championship tournament that will determine North America’s best amateur League of Legends team.
Since January 2021, amateur and Academy League of Legends teams have been competing in a series of qualifiers and tournaments to earn a spot at LCS Proving Grounds. Ahead of Nerd Street’s Power Play, 14 teams will have already secured their place through success in previous tournaments, while the remaining teams will be fighting for the final two spots. We’re excited to continue expanding our partnership with Nerd Street in LoL, as we continue to build out our regional ecosystem with high quality experiences for amateur, semi-pro, and pro teams,”” said Matthew Archambault, Head of Esports Partnerships at Riot Games NA & OCE.
