Here’s what the first two days of Masters: Reykjavík looked like

by Brian Bencomo

The first two days of Masters: Reykjavík are over, which means we’ve now gotten a look at all 10 teams on stage. It’s the first time we’re seeing the best VALORANT teams in the world on stage in a major international tournament. Given the magnitude of the moment, here’s a look back at the first two days of the tournament via photos. All photos are courtesy of Riot Games.

Fnatic’s charismatic leader Jake "Boaster" Howlett was all smiles after his team beat KRÜ Esports in the opening match of Masters.

KRÜ Esports is the team representing Latin America. After losing to Fnatic, they are facing Brazil’s Sharks on Wednesday to try to avoid elimination.

Version1 ensured a strong debut for North America at Masters with a 2-0 victory over Japan’s Crazy Raccoon.

Of course, Anthony “vanity” Malaspina wore his signature cat ears on stage. With the cat ears on, are Version1 invincible?

Despite losing 2-0 to Version1, Crazy Raccoon put up a good fight, losing both maps by close scores.

Sharks Esports were the first of two Brazilian teams to take the stage at Masters, and they were involved in the first three-map series, which they ultimately lost to Korea’s NUTURN Gaming.

NUTURN is led by Kang "solo" Keun-chul, who at 33 years old is the oldest player at the tournament

X10’s Patiphan "Patiphan" Chaiwong made quite the entrance on Day 2 ahead of his team’s match against Team Vikings.

While Sharks Esports lost on Day 1 and will have to fight their way through the lower bracket, Team Vikings will carry Brazil’s flag forward into the upper bracket semifinals.

The man. The myth. The legend. Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, one of the biggest stars at the tournament, made his debut along with Team Liquid on Day 2.

Even Liquid’s mascot, Blue, made the trip to Iceland.

Version1 came out on top in the first clash between NA and EU teams at Masters. They moved on to the upper bracket semifinals and sent tournament favorite Team Liquid to the lower bracket.

The last match of Day 2 featured the debut of Sentinels and superstar Tyson “TenZ” Ngo.

For months they’ve been showing North American fans that they’re the best team in the region. On Tuesday, Sentinels showed the world that they’re a force to be reckoned with in taking down Fnatic 2-0.

With Sentinels’ victory over Fnatic, both NA teams have now beaten two highly touted EU teams at Masters. Might it mean that NA actually is the best region in VALORANT?
