Nerd Street announces VALORANT Lockdown tournament series

by Brian Bencomo

Nerd Street announced on Friday a new VALORANT tournament series to end 2022 and kick off 2023. VALORANT Lockdown will consist of three online qualifiers in December followed by a LAN Last Chance Qualifier and LAN finals in January.

The LAN tournaments are set to take place at Nerd Street’s Localhost Fullerton in Southern California. Localhost Fullerton hosted two other VALORANT LANs earlier this year -- one in July won by QoR and one in May that Zero MarksMen Black won.

VALORANT Lockdown’s first online qualifier will take place Dec. 5-7 and the LAN Finals will be Jan. 14-15 and will have a $10,000 prize pot. Four teams will qualify for the VALORANT Lockdown Finals via each online qualifier. Another four will qualify via the LCQ for a total of 16 teams in the Finals. More details can be found on the VALORANT Lockdown event page.

The series will be Nerd Street’s first VALORANT tournaments since the VALORANT Summer Championship Finals in August. Ghost Gaming were crowned summer champs after beating TSM Academy in the final.

This tournament will be one of the last Tier 2 tournaments in North America before the VALORANT Champions Tour’s new Tier 2 Challengers league kicks off in early 2023.
