Nerd Street’s owned and operated gaming venues, known as Localhosts, are not only places where you can stop by to play your favorite games on high-quality gaming PCs and consoles. Localhosts also are the site of LAN tournaments, gaming community gatherings, private events, youth camps, brand activations and more. Every month, we’ll be spotlighting some of the best events that have happened at Localhost in Philadelphia, Rowan and Denver. LANs in Philly
August was a big month for events at Localhost Philly. It started with Funhaver’s ZERO//IN, a three-day VALORANT LAN tournament. Legacy Kingdom took home first place in the 20-team tournament with a $10,000 prize pool on the line. Coming into the event as the 10th seed in Swiss groups, Legacy pulled off upset after upset, culminating in a 2-1 take down of Nightblood Gaming in the grand finals.
A couple weeks later, the Rainbow Six Siege community gathered at Localhost for Siege Showdown. Crew beat BANDSCOAST 2-0 in the final of the two-day, 20-team tournament to win the lion’s share of the $20,000 prize pool. Leonardo "Kyno" Figueiredo, Ayden "dfuzr" Gabari, Evan "Yoggah" Nelson, Nick "njr" Rapier and Ethan "Nuers" James made up BANDSCOAST’s roster, all of whom are veterans from pro teams M80, Oxygen, DarkZero and Spacestation. The R6 tournament in Philly came a few months after Nerd Street hosted another Siege Showdown LAN tournament at Localhost Denver. Reception to the event was very positive with players taking to social media asking for more tournaments like Siege Showdown.
The third big event in Philly last month was Go For Broke, Localhost’s fighting game community’s monthly. Featuring 79 entrants across six games, these were the winners of the last GFB of the summer:
- Street Fighter 6 - Spaceboy
- Tekken 8 - DivinexClarity
- Under Night 2 - Silic0n
- Mortal Kombat 1 - TheAlphabet
- Guilty Gear: Strive - AoiKypher
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves - MegaHackah
Camps conclude
August marked the end of Nerd Street’s summer camp season at Localhost. Denver, Philly and Rowan all hosted soldout or nearly soldout sessions of Camp Nerd Street, where kids 8-13 had fun playing games together, learning basic coding and engaging in fun offscreen activities like Memory Madness and Create Your Own Game!

August also included a final round of campers coming through the doors of 401 N Broad St. via Philadelphia Parks and Rec field trips. Simpson, East Passyunk and Cohox Recreation Centers all made their way to Localhost Philly to enjoy plenty of gaming and good vibes. The East Passyunk group of youngsters got a special treat as they were able to participate in Localhost’s second Gamers vs. Cops Community Event, featuring officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 9th District. Campers from the EP Rec Center took part in some friendly matches against local officers across Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Madden NFL 25.
Rowan Welcome Week
With summer coming to an end and school back in session, Localhost Rowan participated in Rowan Welcome Week at the end of August. Localhost held several days of free play, welcoming in over 100 students who got to experience what the on-campus gaming venue has to offer. Dozens of incoming freshmen created new accounts throughout Rowan Welcome Week and the venue has been buzzing to close out August and usher in September.

August was a big month for the fighting game community at Rowan. Limit Break broke its attendance record with 40 competitors taking part, filling out the console pit alongside the BeyBlade community, who held a community night in the front of the venue. A new tournament also debuted at Rowan last month. Paradox Quarterly brought together the FGC and Super Smash Bros. communities for a joint competitive event.
