We’re partnering with Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs, Game Gym, and Susquehanna Esports to produce a summer of activities promoting health and wellness.

MAY 6, 2020 – Casual gamers and aspiring esports athletes alike are getting a workout starting this June. We’re happy to announce that the summer camps are back in 2019!

We’ll be including a physical well-being component at Localhost Philly in conjunction with three camp programs. Designed to engage participants in a range of activities that promote leadership, teamwork, strategic thinking, and physical wellness, we’re partnering with Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs (JKCP), Game Gym, and Susquehanna Esports to encourage physical exercise and team building.

The mission of the esports summer camps is to promote camaraderie by inviting participants to engage face to face. Being in the same physical location encourages communication and provides a safe environment for attendees to learn, communicate, and meet like-minded people.

The summer camp schedule will include personal trainers who will lead attendees in stretching and creativity exercises. Trainers will also coach players on the importance of posture, sleep, and communication.

JKCP & Game Gym

We’re very excited to be working with Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs (JKCP) again. Our summer camp program with them in 2018 was a huge success, and we expect 2019 to be even better.

“With nearly $15 million dollars in scholarships being awarded from over 200 universities in the United States and industry revenues forecasted to top $1 billion in 2019, there is no denying that esports has become a booming industry with an ever-increasing list of career opportunities for students to explore as players and industry professionals. We are excited to illuminate this path for them this summer,” he continued.

NSG has contracted the youth esports experts at Game Gym, a company that focuses on shifting the focus of online video game play to live play, to produce content for two two-week camps in July and August. Game Gym’s programming includes a mix of game play, special guest speakers, and exercises for breathing, focus, and flexibility.

One goal of the summer camps is to use exercises, both mental and physical, to teach life skills to attendees. The activities are designed to ensure the participants become better players and teammates to position them as better candidates for college scholarships and career opportunities.

Game Gym stresses the importance of increasing diversity in esports and gaming by creating a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment. Camp directors will leverage video game titles such as League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket league to teach kids core skills like communication, perseverance, and leadership.

“We believe that by teaching children how to play with respect and humility, they will go on to improve the esports industry from the inside,” said Josh Hafkin, CEO of Game Gym.

Susquehanna Esports

This is our first time working with Susquehanna Esports, and we’re very excited.

They will program their own, unique content for summer camps at Localhost and will be operating the third and fourth week of June and the first week of July. One of their main focuses is on on educating children on working as a team.

“If you listen to a group of 14-year-olds coordinate and plan, you realize that esports is more than entertainment–it’s how these kids communicate and build relationships,” says Charles Palmer of Susquehanna Esports. “Learning about teamwork and communication in esports is very similar to how they learn in traditional sports.”
