Nerd Street Expands West Coast Presence with 2nd Localhost Esports and Gaming Facility in California
by Olivia Schaller
PHILADELPHIA, April 26, 2021– Nerd Street Gamers, the national esports infrastructure company, announced today the opening of its second Localhost esports and gaming center in California.
The Grand Opening for Localhost Bakersfield is taking place this Saturday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m. PDT, and will offer free gameplay on powerful, professional-grade gaming computers along with video game and esports equipment raffles including Five Below and Bugha’s collaboration.
Localhost Bakersfield will be connected to a Five Below store, as part of Nerd Street’s ongoing partnership with the teen-focused retailer, and will provide opportunities for gamers of all ages and skill levels to participate in esports tournaments, camps, team training, private events like birthday parties, and hourly play for a wide variety of video games. At approximately 2,000 square feet, Localhost Bakersfield will include professional-grade gaming computers and consoles plus high-performance gaming accessories, along with options for refreshments and apparel from the adjacent Five Below store.
This announcement comes on the heels of the inception of Nerd Street’s partnership with Five Below following the retailer’s investment in the company’s Series A round in 2020. As part of the funding, the companies agreed to build as many as 70+ Localhost locations within Five Below stores nationwide over the next few years.
“Through our partnership with Five Below, we’re able to accelerate Nerd Street’s mission to make esports accessible to everyone by providing access to the equipment necessary to participate in the unique opportunities the industry has to offer. As we continue to grow our national footprint, we’re thrilled to work with our Five Below partners to make this vision an impactful reality for the residents of Bakersfield and surrounding areas,” said John Fazio, CEO of Nerd Street Gamers.
Nerd Street has become synonymous with bringing fun, competitive experiences to gamers of all demographics and skill levels across the country. As Nerd Street expands nationally, the company announced in February 2020 its intent to open the largest public esports facility on the West Coast in Los Angeles in 2021.
Localhost Bakersfield will serve to further increase the company’s Southern California footprint and connect more communities to the technology needed for both gaming and STEAM learning opportunities. With hundreds of universities providing scholarship offerings to esports athletes, access to this technology is about more than just gaming.
Localhost Bakersfield is located adjacent to the Five Below store at 4310 California Ave, Bakersfield, CA, 93304. Visit the following link to learn more about the location: localhost.gg/bakersfield.
