Top esports tournaments at Localhost Philadelphia in 2022

As 2022 comes to a close, it’s a good time to look back on the year at Nerd Street’s Localhost Philadelphia. In its first full year of existence, Nerd Street’s flagship venue played host to a number of big esports tournaments in addition to daily gameplay hours and weekly community events. From VALORANT to CS:GO and pro to collegiate, here are five of the biggest tournaments that took place at Localhost Philadelphia this year.

VALORANT Regional LAN - Philadelphia

Localhost Philadelphia kicked off the year with a VALORANT LAN tournament. Akrew took home the win to extend their match winning streak to 31 at the time. The team was one of the best throughout the Nerd Street Champs VALORANT winter circuit and ended up placing third in the winter championship.
Fragadelphia 17

The latest edition of Fragadelphia was the biggest ever with a prize pool of $100,000 and European and Brazilian teams competing in addition to North Americans. Evil Geniuses sent two teams to Philadelphia, EG White and EG Black, and EG White ended up winning the event over BIG Academy, the junior squad of European organization BIG. The win vaulted EG White up the HLTV rankings to No. 39 in the world at the time.
Nerd Street Champs VALORANT Finals

Nerd Street Champs’ summer championship series in VALORANT came to a conclusion with a LAN tournament finals for the best teams in the circuit. There also was a Last Chance Qualifier just ahead of the Finals to round out the field. One of the LCQ teams, Ghost Gaming, ended up winning it all and were crowned Nerd Street champs. Ghost Gaming, who had competed in the VALORANT Champions Tour throughout the year, were the cream of the crop in a field that included TSM Academy, Oxygen Academy and Soniqs.
Nerd Street Champs Apex Legends finals

Like in VALORANT, Nerd Street Champs’ Apex Legends summer champion was decided via a LAN tournament at Localhost Philadelphia. Atlanta Premier outlasted the competition and won the Apex Legends championship after 10 rounds of competition in the finals.
NACE Starleague Fall Finals

The NACE Starleague fall 2022 season came to a conclusion with seven finals. Champions in NACE’s varsity premier division were crowned in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, League of Legends and Smash Ultimate.
Northwood University dominated the competition with the school competing in four finals and winning three of them -- in Call of Duty, Rocket League and Smash Ultimate. Davenport University won the CS:GO final, Maryville won in League of Legends, James Madison University took home the win in Rainbow Six and Boise State triumphed in Overwatch 2.
