Pro Bowl Wide Receiver, Gaming Personality, and Nerd Street Brand Ambassador, JuJu Smith-Schuster, To Host Enriching Esports Camp
by Nerd Street
FULLERTON, CA. – July 14, 2022 – Nerd Street, the national esports infrastructure company, today announced their first esports camp with Pro Bowl Wide Receiver and Brand Ambassador, JuJu Smith-Schuster. Camp JuJu will take place on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 from 9am to 3pm at Nerd Street’s gaming and esports center, Localhost, in Fullerton, CA. Campers will enjoy playing their favorite games on professional-grade esports equipment while learning life skills parallel with those taught in traditional sports including teamwork, problem solving, and communication.
“Our partnership with JuJu is all about providing access to technology and gaming for those who need it most,” said John Fazio, CEO of Nerd Street Gamers. “Esports should not be exclusive to only those who can spend thousands on gaming PCs. Camp JuJu brings together youth from the local area to experience esports like the pros, free of charge.”
Camp JuJu provides gamers of all skill levels the opportunity to compete, learn, and build communities in a safe, positive environment. With the help of JuJu Smith-Schuster, campers will build an educational foundation to understand the multiple facets of gaming and esports. These esports programs balance on-screen gameplay with physical challenges to help kids think critically about gaming while participating in physical, social, and cognitive activities. Tactics and skill development are the core of the program, but the camps will also provide a complete picture of esports for attendees.
“One of the biggest reasons I partnered with Nerd Street is that we both wanted to increase access and opportunities for kids,” said JuJu Smith-Schuster. “Not everyone has the resources to explore gaming in every way they want to. There is so much in the gaming world to take advantage of, and hopefully we can help kids reach the full extent of their abilities in the space.”
The JuJu Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of youth initiatives and lifting the spirits of those in need, will be working with local organizations including The Boys & Girls Club to sponsor over 40 kids. Attendees will experience the camp free of charge, while having access to the highest quality gaming equipment and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Smith-Schuster’s passion for gaming and focus on bringing opportunities in esports to everyone regardless of socioeconomic status is solidified through this camp. He will be in attendance on July 16-17 to interact with the community while promoting healthy gaming habits including teamwork, leadership, collaboration, and trust.
