by Brian Bencomo

Karn & Co. won the inaugural season of ELEMENT, a new Tier 2 circuit for Rainbow Six Siege esports. After being down 0-2 in the grand finals of ELEMENT ONE, Karn & Co. came storming back and won three straight maps in overtime to take the series and the inaugural championship 3-2.

Karn & Co. is led by Brandon "Karnageb" Santos who has been competing in Rainbow Six esports since 2016 when his teams finished third in each of the first three seasons of the North American Pro League. The rest of the five-man roster includes Julian "Kixhro" Velazquez, Packer, Nick and Wifi.

Karn & Co. were one of eight teams invited to the 16-team ELEMENT ONE main event. The 16 teams competed in a Swiss stage in which Karn & Co. went 3-1 to qualify for the playoffs. In the playoffs, Karn & Co. beat Outlast and Spacestation Gaming Academy to reach the grand final, where they beat Gang Gang Gaming.

ELEMENT ONE was the first season of a new Tier 2 league for the Rainbow Six Siege North American competitive ecosystem. Nerd Street partnered with Ubisoft to bring the new developmental league to life.

Nerd Street executed the broadcast with over 25 videos created by producer/editor Nico Barton.

ELEMENT ONE kicked off June 16 with two sets of open qualifiers to find the eight teams that would join the eight invited teams for the 16-team Swiss stage. The top eight teams from the Swiss stage advanced to an eight-team single elimination bracket.

ELEMENT is the successor to the North American Challengers League and was inspired by SCS, a prior Rainbow Six Tier 2/Tier 3 circuit run by Nerd Street. Details of the next season of ELEMENT are yet to be announced.
