What you need to know about Freeze Time, a CS2 LAN presented by Kaos Gaming

Freeze Time presented by Kaos Gaming is a Counter-Strike 2 LAN that will be held at Localhost in Fullerton this weekend. It will be the fifth CS2 LAN that Nerd Street has organized since November. Tournament sponsor Kaos Gaming is dedicated to fostering the growth of the North American gaming and esports scene by hosting events, leagues and supporting teams while also equipping gamers with the resources necessary to elevate their skills.

Schedule and format

The eight-team tournament will start Friday, January 12 and end Saturday, January 13. The teams have been divided in two groups of four, and each group will play out in a GSL double-elimination style bracket. The top two teams in each group will advance to a four-team single-elimination playoff bracket.

Matches will start at 12 p.m. PT each day, with group play taking place Friday, and the playoff bracket closing things out Saturday. Saturday’s matches will be streamed on Nerd Street’s Twitch, with Ryan “laz” Lazauskas and Danny "mahone" Hsieh behind the mic as the casters for Freeze Time.

Nerd Street and Localhost’s history with Counter-Strike

Nerd Street has been a longtime supporter of the grassroots Counter-Strike scene in North America, having organized dozens of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive LAN tournaments often in partnership with Fragadelphia.

Freeze Time will be the fifth CS2 LAN hosted by Nerd Street at Localhost since the game released last fall. In mid-November, Tricksters won the first CS2 LAN at Localhost in Philly. The following weekend, Conquerors won the Rowan LAN, with Lucas “fatguy” Muncy winning his second Nerd Street LAN as he played for both Tricksters and Conquerors. In December, the Denver and Fullerton Localhosts held CS2 LANs, and Welikecook won in Denver, while Lakers in 4 won in Fullerton.
