Collegiate teams compete at Localhost Philly in MACS Spring 2025 tournaments

The Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Series returned to Localhost Philadelphia this spring with VALORANT, Overwatch 2 and League of Legends tournaments bringing together some of the best collegiate esports teams in the region to the heart of Philly. Harrisburg University won the VALORANT tournament, Arcadia University continued their dominance in Overwatch, and Drexel captured the top spot in LoL.

In VALORANT, 14 teams came out to compete with Rowan University and the Harrisburg University Storm coming out on top of their respective groups with 6-0 records. Those two teams then played each other in a best-of-three grand final. The HU Storm won a close 2-1 match to be crowned MACS VALORANT champs.

The MACS Overwatch 2 competition also began with the teams divided into two groups for a round robin group stage. The Drexel Dragons finished first in Group A with a 4-0 record, while Alvernia University’s Gold team finished atop Group B with a 5-0 record. Both of these teams as well as the Temple University Cherry team and Arcadia University Knights qualified for the four team playoff bracket. Alvernia made it to the final with a win over Temple, while Arcadia pulled off the upset over Drexel to reach the final. Arcadia beat Alvernia in the final 3-0 in a rematch of the fall MACS Overwatch final which Arcadia also won.

The five-team MACS League of Legends tournament began with round robin play to determine the four teams that would advance to a four-team playoff bracket. Two Drexel teams advanced, and so did Alvernia University and one of Temple’s two teams at the tournament. The Drexel Dragon varsity team beat Drexel’s Gold team in one semifinal, while Temple Cherry beat Alvernia in the other semi. The Dragons then beat Temple 2-0 in the final to complete an undefeated run in the LoL MACS tournament.
