by Brian Bencomo
Nerd Street has announced a new VALORANT tournament series called VALORANT Lockdown 2 that will begin with an online qualifier from April 16 to 18, which will be the first of 10 online qualifiers. VALORANT Lockdown 2 will consist of 10 online qualifiers as well as a Resurrection Qualifier (June 26-27) and a Last Chance Qualifier (July 28) that will precede the Lockdown 2 Finals, a 16-team LAN tournament that will take place at Localhost Philadelphia from July 29 to 30.

The Lockdown 2 Finals prize pot will be $10,000, and each weekly online qualifier will have a scaling prize pot of up to $2,000. Teams competing in the weekly qualifiers will earn points to qualify for the Finals, similar to the Nerd Street Champs tournament series that took place the last couple years. The top 10 teams on the Lockdown 2 leaderboard will qualify for the finals, and another four spots will go to the top four finishers at the Last Chance Qualifier.
This tournament series will include a new feature called the “Resurrection Bracket.” Just like VALORANT agent Sage can resurrect allies, teams that have been eliminated during the first or second days of each online qualifier will get a second chance at life by being able to compete in the Resurrection Bracket on Day 3 of each online qualifier. The winner of each week’s Resurrection Bracket will qualify for the Resurrection Qualifier happening at the end of June. The top two teams from the Resurrection Qualifier will qualify for the Finals.
